Now

Hi there.
I’m David LaVine.
Founder of RocLogic Marketing.
I used to do engineering. Now I’m an engineering marketing consultant focused on inbound marketing strategy and guidance for small engineering services companies.
Here are some things I’m thinking about…
Sept 2026
- The dichotomy between the parts of the US population that have embraced AI and those parts that haven’t is fascinating to observe. They can coexist, but man, different motivations, outcomes, etc.
- I’m having so much fun being part of the new LLM-sourced marketing / sales channel!
- The way I work now with AI is significantly different from the way I used to work without it.
June 2026
- In some ways it’s very exciting to be part of what appears to be one of the quickest changes in buyer behavior since I’ve been in the marketing world, due to LLMs
- Positioning is an interesting and useful topic. At some level so obvious, but the nuances SO not.
Mar 2026
- If you’re not overwhelmed by the disruption from LLMs, I don’t think you’re paying close enough attention 😉.
- Having a blast learning about AI visibility! Like a kid in a candy store 😋
Dec 2025
- Us humans just love our expectation set, don’t we?!
- Learning more about Deep Work
- Continuing to learn about implications of LLMs
- Continuing to learn how to best leverage LLMs
Oct 2025
- AI search is in it’s infancy – too easy to game the system instead of doing the hard work. This has to change (I think it probably will).
- Good reminder: keep an open mind for new ways of doing things no matter how good you get at whatever you do
- Productivity: while I consider my workflow to be productive (equal parts personality traits and learned), I got a good refresher and refocus from a book I read.
- Deep Work – YES
July 2025
- Vector embeddings, yum!
- Topical authority dilution, yuck!
April 2025
- One thing the world is not right now: static.
- GenAI is simultaneously: fun, frustrating, useful, scary.
